A story of dichotomy. The infinite Self.
Strength. Fear. Surrender. Truth.
In the face of darkness, unyielding faith.
For Love.
Once upon a time in a small naked wood, a tiny naked house calmly open stood. Inside the garden gate, the flowers bloomed and grew, and every Thing was joyful —completely understood. But outside of the harbor of the tall majestic trees, the landscape crushed harshly against the House beliefs. The language of That Land was crude and incomplete, and no one EVER questioned the reason for their Seas of up, down, turnaround, ridiculous deeds. But the tiny naked house inside the naked forest of trees stood firmly in the peace of perfected views’ needs. ‘Tis the balance of nature, this up, down, front, and back. The journey of both extremes IS the divinely-centered tack. Dawn does not exist without the night. Feeling Safe cannot BE — (without) Knowing Fright. Both sides of the coin are needed and true, and both exist in infinity — And certainly in You. So Be Kind. Be Gentle. Know Fear. But Know Strength. ‘Cos your naked little house can withstand it all, I think.
The Naked House is a story of the infinite Self and a metaphor for the soul’s journey through the dichotomy of our world. Incorporating human capacities for finding strength and feeling fear, The Naked House encourages surrender to ultimate truth and that in the face of darkness, unyielding faith is the way forward. The imagery is almost ethereal with white, transparent backgrounds and a minimal aesthetic. The color story includes blue, black, grey, and gold which are used throughout the hand-illustrated images. The only departures from this color story are in drawings illustrating the garden where magical large pink, purple, fuchsia, and orange flowers dance among a royal blue butterfly and a lavender and grey hummingbird and in illustrating gentleness where a single tree with a swing is blooming with joyful fuchsia flowers. Blue ocean waves pound the rocky cliffs when describing how the landscape crushes harshly with the house beliefs which contrast to the stark naked trees that weave their way throughout the illustrations. An overriding imagery theme is of the movement of journey depicted by black flying soul-like images made from black dots with comet-like tails dancing in murmuration throughout the story like the black starlings seen in Earth’s skies. Fright and fear are illustrated in the abstract using only the colors of black and grey and suggest imagery of stormy weather, a foreboding shark fin, or a perilous mountain to climb, while strength is conveyed through brilliant golden suns and sun rays. Inspiring feelings of harmony, truth, tranquility, simplicity, and a certain sense of playfulness, The Naked House is meant as an encouraging support for overcoming adversity.
